  Workng towards a modern, customer-focused national passenger train network that provides a travel choice Americans want. NARP is the only national organization in the USA speaking for the users of passenger trains and rail transit.

• Working Bikes Cooperative
  Recovers landfill-bound bicycles and accepts donated bikes in any condition, repairs them to working condition, and sells them to Chicagoans (Illinois, USA) at a low cost in order to fund shipments of bicycles and bike parts to developing countries. Since 2001, Working Bikes Cooperative has shipped thousands of bikes to Africa, Central America and the Caribbean and gifted hundreds of bikes locally to Chicago individuals and groups.

• International Bicycle Fund
  A non-profit, 501 (c) 3 organization based in Seattle. IBF's objective is to create a sustainable, people-friendly environment by creating opportunities of the highest practicable quality for bicycle transportation. The web site provides comprehensive information on everything from grassroots advocacy to urban planning.

• The American Public Transportation Association
  This site includes tools for effective communications with members of legislatures, community leaders, business leaders and other activists about the importance of public transportation.

• Bicycle Transportation Alliance (BTA)
  A non-profit membership organization working to promote bicycling and improve bicycling conditions in Oregon and SW Washington. Even if you don't live in those areas, you will find this web site helpful (and it would be great if there were such local, vibrant alliances all over the USA!)

• League of American Bicyclists
  An advocacy group working to promote bicycling for fun, fitness and transportation and work through advocacy and education for a bicycle-friendly America.

• Spare the Air
  Some 60% of air pollution comes from cars - most of that is emitted when we turn the ignition key in the morning. Spare the Air was established by the San Francisco Bay Area Air Quality Management District to educate people about air pollution, and to encourage them to change their behavior to prevent it. It's information is applicable in other cities as well.

• UITP
  This site has extensive resources for trade organizations and city and state-based agencies, but, unfortunately, they seem to not know that Individual and grass roots efforts are one of the most effective, essential ways of prompting change in governments, the private sector, and public practices -- they have no resources for such groups who want to advocate for mass transit in their areas.

• Cycling Promotion.com Advocacy
  Promote cycling in Australia. Lots of information on activities that are essential in achieving more cycle friendly communities: advocacy, policy and planning and more.

• Probicycle.com Bicycle Advocacy Links
  "Cyclists should expect and demand safe accommodation on every road, just as do all other users. Nothing more is expected. Nothing less is acceptable." From Procycle.com, a terrific site in its own right.

• Bicycling resources on the web
  From the Santa Barbara County (California) bicycling coalition. Includes international resources.

• 48 Bicycle Advocacy Groups Around the World
  These groups specialize not only in bicycle advocacy but also in tourism, consumer issues, hpv-matters, etc.

• Re~Cycle
  A nonprofit organization based in the United Kingdom, which sends bicycles to poor countries such as Haiti and South Africa; including training people how to repair and maintain the vehicles.

• BikeToWork.com
  Link portal for sites, products and services related to the use the bicycle as a means of transport to and from work.

• BikeCommute.com
  News, reviews, and articles of interest to those who choose to commute by bicycle. Also home to a database of commuter profiles submitted from around the country.
