My tweets here are about travel, motorcycling, tent camping, bicycling (mostly as a commuter), and things I find amusing. I tweet maybe up to half a dozen times a day, on a really good day - usually much less.

disclaimer

This ride, about 22 miles, is great to add on to another ride in the area, to create a nice day trip.

From 99E, just North of Canby, turn onto South End Road (there is no light), and make a left, following the road North.

You will quickly pass New Era. The origin of the name New Era is unclear, however, some inaccurately relate it to a "Spiritualist Camp" founded in 1873 located near the mill site that was established there in 1868 and continued operation until 1935. A few of the original buildings still exist, but many still have residents, so careful with your explorations.

There are scenic, hilly, winding road for more than two miles. Make a right at Warner Parrott Road, then in less than a mile, make a right on South Leland Road. Follow this winding road across 213, around five miles, through Beavercreek. The road will take a big turn to the right - keep following it all the way around to 211.

You've just completed about 22 miles - and if you followed the speed limit, that took you about 40 minutes.

Your options now for continuing to ride just for fun are

  • continue on 211 for a couple of miles to Mollala, a small town with gas and food options (suggestions on this page for rides from Mollala

  • continue on 211 in the other direction for almost 20 more miles, through Colton, to Estacada. It will add another 30 - 40 minutes to your trip

  • make a right onto South Union Mills Road, to Mulino, where there is a gas station and part of another scenic route, which can add another 30 minutes or an hour to your trip, depending on how much of the route you take.

More Oregon and Washington suggested short motorcycle routes.

You want an aluminum top box, but the huge alu boxes of most sellers for one or even two helmets are too big for you, and too expensive?

My husband has designed an aluminium topcase just for you! (and for us, because it's what we wanted on our own bikes)
